HALLPASS stands for "Hope Alliance of Parents for School Safety." The group was founded by Kirsten and Matthew Toth, Haley Rose, and Aaron Toth in response to the ongoing problem with violence in schools. After being witness to, and even involved in, discussion after discussion and debate after debate about what can be done to make things better... it occurred to them that maybe the solution is two-fold.
While many hardworking groups are dealing with political reform, Hallpass strives to remain bipartisan and nonpolitical. We believe that regardless of political affiliation, nobody can dispute that improved safety for kids and staff in school is a good goal. In this aspect, we can work together and improve our community regardless of any action taken in the political realm.
We are founded on a strong system of three pillars: research, community, and outreach. Further, our goals are three-tiered: physical, technical, and operational safeguards for our schools. Through a strong foundation of beliefs and a strong ceiling of aspirations, we believe that we can be incredibly successful in reaching our collective goals, and then some.
We look forward to working alongside the motivated and passionate members of our communities toward these common goals.
Kirsten Rose TothPresident & Executive Director
Kirsten lives in Riverview with her husband, 3-year old daughter, and twin infant sons. She earned her Master of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 2013, and works as a psychologist with a strong focus in developmental and behavioral problems in children. Hallpass became her passion project after the tragic events in Parkland, Florida in February 2018, and she is eager to make a difference in our schools.
Matthew TothVice President/Treasurer & School Outreach Director
Matthew is Kirsten’s husband (so it follows to reason that he lives with those kiddos as well). He earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Michigan, but discovered his passion for the restaurant industry while putting himself through school. He has worked in some well-loved local restaurants throughout the years. He is excited to dedicate his skills and passion to this cause.
Haley RoseSecretary & Community Outreach Director
Haley lives in Allen Park with her fiance’, Evan. While they do not have kids of their own yet, they are both very involved in the lives of their niece and nephews, and they hope to be parents one day. Haley works within the Quicken Loans family of companies, for a company called Rock Connections. Haley works as a senior training consultant, which makes her very comfortable with public speaking and educating others! She hopes to take that skill and implement it into her involvement with Hallpass.
Aaron TothTrustee & Fundraising Director
Aaron has lived downriver his whole life. Going to Riverview Gabriel Richard High School, he learned he had a passion for outreach. From Adopt-a-Grandparent, to volunteering at Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit, to joining a mission trip to Appalachia for a week helping a very impoverished area. Now with 2 children under 3 years old of his own, Aaron has shifted focus to Hallpass.
